Traveling with Friends
2016-05-03Pick your group carefully
Travel with like-minded friends or at least pick travel companions that balance one another out (a yin for every yang). Balance is the key to a great trip. Note: try to make sure everyone has a buddy to pair-off with—no one like to go it alone.
Keep the group manageable
It is nearly impossible to please a large group of people all of the time. Better your odds by limiting the size of the group. That way everyone gets their way at least some of the time.
Learn to compromise
Go with the flow to keep the group positive. The whole point of traveling together is to enjoy one another’s company. You’re not doing that if you spend your time fighting over what to do and when to do it.
Don’t be afraid to do your own thing
People who travel together often feel like they have to do everything together. Don’t! You’ll all be much happier if you split up once in a while and do your own thing. You’ll also be able to cover more ground and report back to the group on your experiences.
Be supportive
If someone in your group has travel issues, help them get past it. Stopping for a snack if someone is#hangry or splurging on transportation if someone has sore feet are small prices to pay to keep the group positive and happy.
Don’t Judge
This one is hard. Everyone has their own way of doing things. Some pack light and some pack heavy. Some take their time and others are constantly on the go. Celebrate your differences and learn to make the best of both. Remeber—you’re friends so be friendly to one another.
