Packing Tips for North & South American Ski Adventures

2014-08-13

It’s never easy packing for any adventure trip, especially ski trips, as the gear is very intensive!  Since many of us have favorite skis or snowboards for different conditions we frequently find ourselves unable to just bring one and end up bringing powder skis/board, as well as carving skis/board.  This can be very problematic nowadays with the hefty overweight charges the airlines are charging, so if possible reduce the number of other items to keep weight down.  Another trick is to carry ski/snowboard boots in a boot bag as your carry own.  This way you don’t bog down the ski bags and you don’t have to worry about your boots not making it to your destination.  It’s no problem renting skis or a snowboard, but rental boots are not fun!!!

Here are some tips of necessary gear for your next ski adventure, in North or South America.

SKI ADVENTURES

  • Travel bags with wheels (great for all travel)
  • Small pack (15-20 liters-great for carrying extra clothing, water, snacks, goggles, sunblock)
  • Watch with alarm
  • Ski helmet
  • Rub-on ski wax
  • Multi tool for repairs (place in checked luggage)
  • 2 pairs of gloves (either two winter gloves or 1 winter/1 spring for spring skiing)
