This two week tour of the Northern Lakes District in Patagonia will take you to four of the most beautiful villages in the Andes Mountains!

The Lake District Tour begins in the cosmopolitan capital of South America, Buenos Aires! Here you will enjoy Tango dancing, eclectic neighborhoods, world renowned cuisine, and endless Malbec wine. Buenos Aires is truly one of the great cities of the world, combing Latin and European cultures into one.

From Buenos Aires you will fly to Bariloche, located in the heart of the Andes Mountains. Bariloche is well known as the adventure sports capital of Argentina, with outdoor activities such as whitewater rafting, kayaking, smooth single track mountain biking, rock climbing, glacier hiking, mountain climbing, and para-gliding (to name a few)!

The number of incredible restaurants in Bariloche is mind boggling, so if you are foodies (like we are), then you will love the wonderful carne, pastas, seafood, and endless chocolate factories…..

Leaving Bariloche behind it’s time to head south to the quaint village of Esquel and the gateway to the Alerces National Park. Esquel is a very traditional Argentine village, abounding with local customs and traditions. During your stay here you will experience the great hikes in the national park and take a ride on one of the most historic trains in Argentina, La Trochita.

Even though you will be sad to say goodbye to this charming village, your next stop on the tour is the small Andean village of Villa La Angostura, located along the shores of Lake Nahuel Huapi. La Angostura is known for its family run ski resort, Cerro Bayo, the wonderful fishing, and hiking opportunities.

Angostura is located at the start to Los Siete Lagos high mountain road, which is one of the highlights of the region. This beautiful drive will take you high up in the Andes Mountains through some of the most stunning scenery in the area with picturesque glacial lakes, ancient Araucaria Araucana forests (Monkey Puzzle trees), and glaciers. This four-wheel drive route leads you to the final destination of the trip, San Martin de Los Andes.

San Martin de Los Andes is just as precious as the other three villages and has outstanding outdoor activities. Fishing, boating, hiking, and mountain biking are some of the most practiced activities in the area during the summer and in the winter skiers make the 20 minute drive up to Cerro Chapelco Ski Resort.

San Martin de Los Andes is smaller then Bariloche, but larger then Esquel and Villa La Angostura in size. In the evenings wonderful restaurants, micro breweries, shops, cafes, and bars can be enjoyed throughout the village.  Some local cuisine specialities are wild game (wild boar and venison), lake trout, cordero (lamb), pastas, carne (beef), and gourmet pizzas.
