How to Avoid Overpacking
2016-02-23Overpacking is easily one of the top five mistakes people make when traveling. Granted, there are plenty of worse things that could happen on your trip but for those of us that like to travel light, there is nothing more irritating than having to care around more than you have to.
Here are 3 quick tips to help you avoid overpacking.
- Plan out your wardrobe
Make sure you accommodate for the different types of activities you’ll be doing, whether it’s hiking out on a trail or sightseeing from a bus. Keep in mind you can mix and match outfits for expanded options. Just make sure you’re ready for anything. - Adopt a travel uniform
Many successful people have created their own personal uniform so they don’t have to bother with wardrobe concerns. Your travel uniform could be anything from jeans and a t-shirt (think Mark Zuckerberg) to khakis and a button-up shirt (think Indiana Jones). Whatever the case may be, a uniform makes packing very simple. - Wash and wear
If you really want to travel light bring clothing you can wash and wear. Light weight and quick drying items like t-shirts, socks, and underwear can all be washed easily and dry overnight. If you’re feeling lazy or if you want to wash bigger items, you can always use the hotel laundry service. They’re usually pretty quick and worth the money if you’re really on the go. The point is—you don’t have to bring ten shirts for ten days of travel when 3 or four will do just fine.
