About the resort

THE MOUNTAINS

With a 5,280 feet/1,609 meter vertical drop, 37 lifts (including the remarkably engineered Peak 2 Peak lift, connecting Whistler & Blackcomb Mountains), over 8,100 of skiable acres, nearly a 200-day ski and snowboard season, and an average annual snowfall of 448 inches (1138 cms), Whistler & Blackcomb are two of the best ski mountains in the world!  There are over 200 designated runs, not to mention the infinite number of bowls, chutes, steep faces, and tree shots begging to be explored.

WHISTLER MOUNTAIN

Whistler has incredible terrain for all ability levels, from the first time novice to the all time pro.  Regardless of the type of terrain you like to ski or board, Whistler has more of it than any other resort in North America.

Newbies to Whistler really benefit from having a mountain guide or instructor, so precious time is not lost trying to find the best runs with the best snow. Whistler has enough terrain for two lifetimes and this does not even include its sister mountain, Blackcomb!

Some of the best lifts at Whistler to find the goods on a powder day are Peak, Harmony, and Symphony.  Here you will be able to ski the steep and deep in just about every direction you look!  Some of our favorites areas to check out are Glacier Bowl, Whistler Bowl, West Bowl, Bagel Bowl, and Harmony Horseshoes.

Intermediate riders will want to explore Symphony Bowl, Harmony Ridge, The Glades, and the renowned Peak-To-Creek run from Whistler Peak down to Creekside Village.  This is the longest and most sustained fall line run on the mountain, which is beyond ideal for early morning fresh corduroy!

Beginners will enjoy the gentle terrain off the New Emerald 6, Big Red, and Fitzsimmons Express lifts.  These are wonderful areas for learning new skills and fine tuning techniques recently learned in lessons.

BLACKCOMB MOUNTAIN

Blackcomb may be slightly smaller than Whistler in terms of skiable acres, but by no means does it lack terrain!  Blackcomb actually has 260 feet/79 meters more vertical than Whistler, but this is hardly noticed after skiing and boarding a full day on either mountain.

Blackcomb is a little easier to learn for first timers, since the terrain is more condensed than on Whistler Mountain, so we recommend starting here.  The majority of the terrain on the upper mountain at Blackcomb is geared to intermediate and expert level riders, with the exception of the 7th Heaven and Crystal Ridge areas.  Here, there are some wonderful meandering runs to enjoy that provide excellent photo opportunities of the surrounding peaks in the Coastal Range.

For those of you that want to ski and board the steeps, we recommend checking out Spanky’s Ladder, Garnet, Diamond, Ruby & Sapphire Bowls, Pakalolo, and the famous Saudan Couloir (to name a few).  There are so many chutes, faces, and powder bowls to rip, that by the end of the day your legs will be screaming mercy!  Not to worry we have the perfect remedy for this, a few drinks to ease your wounds at the many vibrant apres-ski spots in Whistler and Blackcomb Villages.  Here are some fun places to soak it all in: Garibaldi Lift Co (also known as the GLC), Merlin’s, Longhorn Saloon, and the Dubh Linh Gate.
