- Ski Season
November – April
Destination: British Columbia
Availability: November – April
Sun Peaks Resort is located in the Columbia Mountain Range of Interior British Columbia, 56 kilometers (35 miles) northeast of the city of Kamloops. There are daily connecting flights into Kamloops from Vancouver, Calgary, and Edmonton cities.
If you are driving to Sun Peaks, then you will most likely be coming in from either the west or east on the Trans Canada Highway. Sun Peaks is the 2nd largest resort in Canada and also one of the friendliest. The resort has it all, from deep steeps to never ending cruisers, perfect glades, powder stashes, and buttery-smooth groomers.
Three mountains surround this European-style, ski-through village filled with quaint shops, cafés, pubs, and eateries. Since the village at Sun Peaks has a very central location in the resort, it can be accessed by skiing down from any of the three mountain areas: Tod, Sundance, and Morrisey. Although this is fairly common in the European Alps, this is quite unique in North American. Sun Peaks offers an abundance of activities, both on and off the slopes. Trust us, once you have visited Sun Peaks, you will be yearning for more time at this Canadian gem!
Fly into Kamloops Airport with a 50 minute transfer to Sun Peaks (31 miles/50 kms).

Sun Peaks Resorts
Sun Peaks’ gargantuan 4,270 acres is spread across three skiable peaks, each with a personality all their own. Each mountain is easily accessible from the village, so ski all three peaks in the same day or stick to the mountain area you enjoy most. Sun Peaks has 138 trails, 13 lifts, 2 alpine bowls, 19 gladed areas for skiing and snowboarding, a 2,894 ft (882 m) vertical drop, a terrain park, over 37 kms of groomed and track set Nordic trails, and receives 6 meters (237″) of snow annually. The snow that falls here in the Columbia Mountains is very light, dry, and powder conditions Interior BC is famous for.
This mountain is named after the highest peak at the resort, standing at 7,060 ft (2,152 m). The highest skiable terrain within the resort’s boundaries lies at 6,824 ft (2,80 m). Tod Mountain is home to the Burfield, which is the first chairlift at the resort that opened in 1961. This Burfield is the longest fixed grip chairlift in North America and the 9th longest in travel length (9,510 ft/2,900 m).
Tod has a wonderful variety of terrain for all ability levels, ranging from beginner to advanced runs. However, this mountain mostly caters to intermediate and advanced level skiers and snowboarders. The Burfield and West Bowl lifts provide access to open bowl powder turns, long cruisers, steep treed runs, and bumps galore.
Sundance Mountain is an intermediates’ paradise with perfectly groomed piste runs and fun gladed areas to perfect your powder technique. Expert skiers and snowboarders will enjoy exploring the Peak-A-Boo treed runs. There are also some very nice meandering beginner runs with picture perfect views of the surrounding mountain peaks and village below.
Mt. Morrisey is an intermediate and expert skier’s playground with lots of corduroy to carve on those bluebird days and powder to float through during storms. Some of the double black diamond runs here are steep and spicy, so if you’re up for the challenge, this is the place to be after a big snowfall!
Beginners will also enjoy this mountain, as it is much quieter than the other two mountains and you will often have the entire run to yourself!
Morrisey is also very unique, in that it offers lift serviced Nordic skiing runs off the backside. This is great for those skiers looking to get up high to enjoy the incredible panoramic views of the Columbia Mountains. This extensive cross-country trail system winds through the forest in route to the charming European-style village of Sun Peaks 1,306 ft (398 m) below.
In addition to the world class skiing and snowboarding, Sun Peaks also has an amazing assortment of adventure activities for after skiing or on a day off. Here are some we can arrange for you during your stay, so let us know which ones appeal to you (this may not be an easy task!).
