    ABOUT THE RESORT

Kicking Horse Resort is located in the Interior of British Columbia, near the village of Golden and 2.5 hours from the Calgary International Airport in Alberta.  The drive along the Trans Canada Highway from Calgary is picture-perfect, as you pass through Banff and Lake Louise in Alberta en route to British Columbia.

Kicking Horse Resort has it all, from steep chutes to gentle groomers and great tree skiing!  The on snow experience at Kicking Horse is exceptional for the whole family.  Nowhere else can you ride a single gondola right to the summit, which provides stunning views of the Rocky Mountains, and offers such easy access to alpine ridges, chutes, and bowls.  Kicking Horse is also known as the Champagne Powder Capital of Canada!

With world-class skiing and snowboarding, comfortable on-mountain lodging, and a friendly vibe, now is the time to let Endless Turns arrange your all-inclusive trip package for the adventure of a lifetime!

    THE MOUNTAIN

The mountain boasts a significant vertical drop of over 4,300 feet (1,315 meters), one of the largest in North America, 5 lifts (gondola is base to summit), over 3,400 of skiable acres, and 24 ft (7.3 meters) of average annual snowfall. There are 120+ designated runs, the terrain spans over 3,400 acres and features four major alpine bowls, 85 inbound chutes, and open ridges to challenge even the most seasoned expert skiers and snowboarders.  While 60% of the runs are classified as advanced or expert, there are also intermediate and beginner trails, primarily located at the base and mid-mountain, with a long green run (“It’s a Ten”) from the summit to the base. The lift system mainly relies on the high-speed Golden Eagle Express Gondola, which provides access to the majority of the terrain.

    ACCOMMODATION & CUISINE

Accommodation is available both in a compact base village and in the nearby town of Golden, which is about a 10-minute drive away. On-mountain options include a variety of lodges, multi-bedroom condo suites, and private chalets, with several offering ski-in/ski-out access. Popular choices include the Glacier Mountaineer Lodge and the Palliser Lodge, which offer hotel rooms and self-contained units with amenities like hot tubs and full kitchens. The town of Golden offers more budget-friendly motel and hotel options.

The resort provides a range of dining experiences, from casual snacks at the Whitetooth Grill to the renowned, fine-dining Eagle’s Eye Restaurant, which is Canada’s most elevated dining establishment and perched at the mountain’s summit with panoramic views. Other on-mountain options include the Double Black Café and the Winston Bar & Bistro, serving pub-style fare and local brews. The town of Golden expands the choices with various pubs, cafes, and restaurants.

    NIGHTLIFE

Nightlife at the immediate base is generally low-key and mellow, focused on relaxed après-ski drinks and conversation around a fireplace or on a patio. Popular après spots include Peaks Grill and the Winston Bar & Bistro. For those seeking more lively pubs, bars, and potential dance floors, the town of Golden offers additional options a short shuttle ride away.

    PERKS

Key perks include access to legendary, light, dry “champagne powder” snow, extensive backcountry opportunities, and the option for heli-skiing directly from the resort. The terrain is a major draw for expert skiers, offering a unique “big mountain” experience, including access to a grizzly bear refuge (Boo the bear) in the summer months. The resort’s location in the Canadian Rockies allows for easy inclusion in multi-resort road trips to destinations like Banff and Revelstoke.

    Kicking Horse Resort

Kicking Horse has a 4,314 ft vertical drop (1,315 meters), 5 lifts (gondola is base to summit), over 3,400 of skiable acres, and 24 ft (7.3 meters) of average annual snowfall.  There are 120+ designated runs, 5 massive alpine bowls, and an infinite number of chutes, steep faces, and glades to challenge even the most seasoned expert skiers and snowboarders.

Kicking Horse had an immense terrain expansion back in 2018, when they added 660 acres of backcountry-like bliss to the mountain.  The areas known as Ozone, Middle Ridge, Feuz Bowl, and Rudi’s Bowl, are only accessible by hiking.  However, short approaches lead to infinite rewards of powder and some of the steepest inbounds terrain outside the Alps!

Even though there are many runs at Kicking Horse that cater to advanced and expert level riders, there is also great terrain for beginner and intermediates.  With long groomed runs, there is plenty of vertical to fine tune skills you learned in ski school and to push yourself to that next level.
